Benifits of Being an Instructor

By choosing to become an Assistant Instructor, there are many rewarding benefits.  Some of the benefits will immediately be noticeable like being able to wear a special uniform or attend special instructor or advanced classes.  Some benefits will take time before they are fully realized.  In time, you will notice that your techniques have improved as a direct result of learning how each technique is performed and by demonstrating your technique to the students you teach.  More importantly, as students you have helped mature in their Choi Kwang-Do training, you will see the positive impact you have had on them.  It is very rewarding knowing that you helped a student improved their techniques, confidence, or attitude.  Finally, as an Instructor in Choi Kwang-Do, you will have the opportunity to train, learn, and interact with many other instructors during Instructor Clinics, tests, and seminars.  You will have the opportunity to learn from many qualified sources of knowledge and perhaps gain some additional insight on a technique or drill that maybe wasn’t so clear to you before.  Below are some of the specific benefits of becoming an Assistant Instructor.

Special Uniform

Because you have chosen the path to becoming an Instructor, you have the opportunity to wear a special uniform.  Available from your Chief Instructor, the Assistant Instructors uniform is blue with the same patches as the standard uniform.  In addition, you will receive an Assistant Instructor patch that is to be worn under the Choi Kwang-Do patch.

Specialized Training

Your Chief Instructor may schedule Instructor classes, workshops, or private training.  This training will help you improve your technique, gives you the opportunity to work with your fellow instructors at your school, and ultimately helps you improve the students that you teach.  In addition, you may be eligible to attend advanced classes at your school or regional advanced classes.  Consult your Chief Instructor for details regarding specialized training.

Accelerated Testing

As an Assistant Instructor you can be considered for accelerated testing.  Accelerated testing involves shortening the time between each of your tests provided you fulfill the minimum number of classes required and are approved by your Chief Instructor.  It is important to note that it never benefits you to accelerate your testing.  It gives you less time to work on past, current, and new material.  Please consult your Chief Instructor if you have questions regarding accelerated testing.  They know you strengths and weaknesses and they are aware of where you are physically and mentally in your training.

Sense of Helpfulness

As stated above, one of the most rewarding benefits of being an Instructor is helping people.  It is satisfying to know that you were able to help out a student who had problems with a particular technique or to help your Chief Instructor keep the test running smoothly. For junior students in particular, your one word can help improve school grades, boost morale, or correct bad behavior.  One minute of helping a student can improve not only techniques but also more importantly, a students entire outlook on life!
